Fast Fusion Technology
At Kingsley Constructors we strive to implement the latest technologies in the field. We find that they offer increased production while improving job safety. Below is a description of one the technologies that we implement on HDPE projects.
We are strong believers in fast fusion technology. The increased production is obvious. On 18’’ DR17 pipe we can average around 3,000 linear feet of fused pipe per day. A standard machine would have to sacrifice quality to even come close to 1,000 linear feet per day. Another great benefit to using this on HDPE projects is that it helps eliminate human error.
It is very hard to ask an operator/ technician to weld as many joints as he possibly can while at the same time asking him to be very mindful of his quality of work. The Fast Fusion machine eliminates this as it programs the weld and cool times based on pipe specifications and weather conditions. The machine eliminates any guesswork or chance for rushed construction resulting in poor weld quality.
In addition to increased production, one of the greatest advantages is increased safety. Considering that two joints of 18’’ DR11 pipe would weigh over 3600 pounds, it is a real safety advantage when we can fuse most all of a project’s pipe without one person handling the pipe. The Fast Fusion machine picks up and aligns the pipe without any human assistance. Standard fusion often times creates the need for labor to assist an equipment operator in adjusting and aligning the pipe creating a real safety hazard. Poly pipe’s flexibility provides some unique advantages but its flexibility also creates a hazard if not handled correctly. Despite the additional cost to implement this type of technology, we believe it delivers high productions, quality assurances and increased safety.
